When a client begins their journey with you, you are the expert.
They have a need, you are their expert guide, and at the end of the engagement, they are (or at least they should be) ready to work with you in new ways.
Most law firms see each engagement as a one-time event (or at least they treat them that way). Complete the intake, draft the documents, send them on their way after the signing meeting. That is the linear model.
What if you think of it as a circle instead?
Each circle, or cycle, is just a step in their journey. You bring the clients from new contacts with no idea of what they need and at the end, you have people ready to bring you more new clients. Give them their own mission to help you and you have started a new journey with that client.
And, at each stage, your firm repeats processes and builds relationships with the clients, your staff, other vendors, and more.
This is what I call the Law Firm Circle of Life.
You and your firm will benefit from learning how to build this circle.
Life in the Practice doesn’t have to be 12 hour days, six (or seven) days a week. Really!
Running the business can and should be easier.
What if you could work fewer hours?
Without the stress?
Without forgetting the clients’ birthdays?
Or missing your family’s important events?
What if you could give more to your clients, staff, and family? To yourself?
Beyond leveraging the client circles through relationships, firms need to know their numbers. Efficient law firms need to understand how the firm runs. One key area is marketing.
Marketing should not be a mystery. The business should be predictable.
What if you could know which of your various marketing efforts pay off big-time and which should be stopped TODAY?
What if you could track the ROI for marketing investments … rather than taking the salesman’s word for how it pays off?
What if the business (staff and clients and systems) all did what you expected them to do and what if your Practice was so efficient that you could take one day a week off?
Or a month? (yes, in consecutive days!)
The Law Firm Circle of Life may be your answer.

There are just “a few things” you need to know to be successful as a small law firm owner. First, you have to think about it as a business, not a law firm, and know your numbers inside and out. You have to be good at finding leads and converting them into paying clients. Only then can you deliver a product!
It doesn’t sound very easy … and for you who run law firms, you know being an attorney entrepreneur is a very difficult job! Here is a link to a blog by Lexicata on what you need to know.

In most firms, one process or another waits for one specific person to do something. Is that true for your business? If you depend on a person to physically write an email, or contact a prospect, or schedule a meeting, your process (and your profits) are at risk!
Why not send the emails automatically? While you are working on your business, or doing something totally different (like golf!), your systems can be executing your business processes. Read More HERE.
